New Delhi, Sep 17 (PTI) The Delhi government has asked all private construction agencies to follow its 14-point guidelines to prevent dust pollution in the city, Environment Minister Gopal said on Friday Rai.
The AAP-led government had held a review meeting with all state-run agencies engaged in construction work in Delhi and were asked to submit their action plans to prevent pollution from the pollution. dust by September 21.
“Many private agencies are also involved in the construction work in the city. We held a meeting with over 50 of these companies including L&T, GMR Group, Raheja Developers, NDMMPL, among others.
“These private construction sites have been asked to adhere to the 14-point guidelines to avoid dust pollution within 15 days,” Rai said.
The minister warned that the government will take strict action against private agencies that do not meet the standards of the winter action plan.
According to the 14-point guidelines, construction sites must be covered on all sides with sheet metal sheds. Sites larger than 20,000 square meters will need to deploy anti-smog guns.
Vehicles carrying construction materials should also be covered. There should be no roadside construction and demolition (C&D) waste collection. Besides the grinding of stones will also not be allowed in the open air, according to the guidelines.
Rai also requested the installation of windbreaks of an appropriate height around the periphery of the construction site. Tarp or green netting on scaffolding around the area under construction and the building is a must.
Construction and demolition waste must be recycled on site or transported to an authorized recycling facility, he added.
