The Government Services Insurance System (GSIS) will begin distributing the Christmas cash gift to 330,496 retirees and retirees on December 1.

“Each year our retirees look forward to receiving the gift in cash, which they call their Christmas bonus. Thus, we made sure that the cash gift will be credited to their electronic card before Christmas this year to somehow relieve them of additional financial expenses during the Christmas season ”, said Rolando Ledesma Macasaet, President and CEO of GSIS, in a press release.

Eligible retirees who received a Christmas cash gift of P 10,000 in 2019 will be granted an amount equivalent to their one-month pension up to a maximum of P 10,000.

Retirees whose 2019 Christmas cash gift was over 10,000 pesos will also get a maximum of 12,600 pesos.

Surviving pensioners, dependent pensioners, pensioners under Republic Law 7699 (“Portability Law”) and those receiving a pro rata pension are not eligible for the Christmas cash gift.

New retirees from 2016 to 2020 who received an immediate pension under RA 8291 are not eligible for the cash donation, as well as those who received a five-year lump sum and will resume their pension regular monthly after December 31, 2020.

GSIS members who resigned or left the public service before reaching the age of 60 and who started receiving their regular monthly pension between 2016 and 2020 will receive the cash gift five years after receiving regularly their pension.

Those who resumed their regular monthly pension after December 31, 2019 will receive a maximum cash donation of 10,000 P.

Old Age and Disability pensioners whose pensions were suspended before the requirement for annual revalidation of pensioner information was temporarily lifted in March 2020 and are still in suspension as of December 1, 2020 will also receive the cash gift, provided that they activate their status with the GSIS no later than June 30, 2021.
