In addition to the social media reactions that surfaced online over the weekend, the embargo on revisions for Marvel’s Loki has now passed, leaving critics to share their full views on the Disney + show. Hours after the embargo was lifted, the series starring Tom Hiddleston received Rotten Tomatoes’ coveted “Certified Fresh” badge, debuting on the review aggregator with a 96% Fresh rating.
According to the site, Loki is “a delightful diversion from the MCU as we know it” and “successfully sees star Tom Hiddleston go from beloved villain to endearing antihero – with a little help from the charming Owen Wilson – in a series as quirky, charming, and vaguely dangerous as the demigod himself. “
A total of 52 reviews were counted on the site ahead of the show’s premiere on Wednesday morning, and only four reviewers filed a review deemed “rotten” by the site’s standards.

“Balancing standard Marvel comedy with strong character beats and heartbreaking moments, Loki is a well-rounded series that never takes itself too seriously. Even though Hiddleston is one of the biggest names in the franchise right now, giving Loki – a particularly nasty villain – his own series was a pretty big risk in and of itself. Remember, this is a risk that seems to have paid off in droves because Loki is shaping up to be a must-see TV. “

“Much like WandaVision, Loki is proof that there is plenty of room to experiment within the narrow confines of the MCU. He mixes elements of buddy comedies and police procedures with a healthy dose of classic sci-fi, aided by an incredibly charming cast is also a story that seems perfectly suited for episodic storytelling, with the space to dig deeper into a character who is often stuck on the outskirts of more important moments. In his first two episodes, Loki nails it down. the formula – now we just have to see if that momentum continues over the next few weeks. “
“The show, even presenting us with a twist from the past of the evil god, asks us above all not to forget it. But it also invites us to recontextualize this journey through new eyes, so as to bring a new perspective and fascinating to how we see Loki and how he sees himself. Perhaps appropriate then, that in a series for a character as shape-shifting and delicate as Loki, that we have the chance to add new layers to our character definition. in such a charming and intelligent way. “
“Of all the surprises and twists this show introduces, perhaps the most exciting is its deep investment in understanding its central character at its best and worst, asking some really tough questions in the context of a traveling lark. back in time. Loki has always been one of the MCU’s greatest villains. But he’s just as compelling as the hero of his own story. “
“TVA is a comprehensively managed place where greed and ambition are equally unnecessary and mundane. Loki and his power-hungry antics are, at best, slightly fun fodder there. They’ve seen it all. The past. , the present, the future. They know how it’s gonna end. For TVA, an apocalypse is just another day in the office. And Loki, with all his dramatic bluster, is just another slippery Variant fish pounding madly at the end of his line, desperate to be thrown into the water. “
“All the time, Loki gets angry with the ‘sacred’ path he’s supposed to be on. As a true agent of chaos, Loki is the perfect anti-hero to challenge issues of predetermination and free will. as a viewer you can have free will, but you may also find that you absolutely must keep watching this superimposed, inventive and extremely entertaining series. “
“So far,“ Loki ”has been fun and fast-paced, reminiscent of the more laid-back and comedic Marvel movies such as“ Thor: Ragnarok ”and“ Ant-Man. ”Curve, this appears to be the streamer’s first big Marvel show. measured against the awesome television that has already premiered in 2021, its light is dimming. Still, there is potential for greater depth in the episodes to come, if the writers focus on that story and are not sure. not stuck in the bigger Marvel machine. “
Loki is slated for release on Disney + on June 9. If you haven’t yet signed up for Disney +, you can try it here.
