The PLI program application window for white goods – AC and LED – will be open for three months from Tuesday, the Commerce Ministry said on Monday.
Trade and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal interacted with industry on the White Goods Production Incentive Program (PLI) on Monday.
“The interaction took place to gather feedback on the program, whose application window will be open for three months from tomorrow,” he said in a statement.
Speaking to the captains of the industry, Goyal said the program was introduced to produce national manufacturing champions and it will bring competitiveness, quality, efficiency and technology.
The minister said that through the LIP, India will leverage its competitive and comparative advantage to claim its position in global supply chains.
Goyal said the selection of companies eligible for the program will be transparent and time-bound.
The PLI program for white goods was notified on April 16 and guidelines were released on June 4. The expenditure for the program is Rs 6,238 crore for 2021-2022 to 2028-2029. It extends a 4-6% incentive on additional sales for five years.
